Phil has been part of our Lienke family story for decades, ever since the 60's when he supported us with his legal skills and a sense of what is right and true. He and Marian were fans and benefactors of the Lienke music over decades, and were often seen dancing joyfully at the local venues. I first met Phil and his wife Marian in 1965. That was the beginning of a long and varied friendship. With other friends, we traveled through the many ages and stages of our lives. We shared many joys and sorrows. Phil and I also communicated frequently because I so admired his many articles and great writing style. Early in 1974, before I had even passed the bar, but after I had graduated from law school, Phil Horning hired me. Nothing unusual you say? I was a woman (one of six in the class of '73) with a two-year-old daughter. He thought I'd make a good lawyer. I hope I honored his trust. He was one of the most admirable, generous, and honest people I have ever known. I have always had profound respect for him, and deep affection.
