I knew Phil in high school and communicated via email with him for the last decade. He was a great friend. I was very sad to find this obituary yesterday. Sending sympathy to his family.

To brother Philip, a truly amazing and admirable man. We had wonderful years growing up in Indiana and Memphis, playing on the farm, swimming at the pool, and traveling. He was keenly intelligent, disciplined, witty, and gentle--a sports fan, fine poet, and wry observer of the human condition. He loved his family deeply and was dedicated to his community.
