Not sure what to say?

It is with profound sadness that I learned of Phil's passing. In his profession, Phil represented that rare combination of endless curiosity, talent, insight and generosity. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

Phil was in the class ahead of mine at Winterthur. I didn't know him very well, but he has stuck in my mind over the years. It's not common to meet someone so talented, smart, kind, and thoughtful. My deepest sympathies to his large and loving family, his friends, and his colleagues. I wish them strength through this loss. Rest in peace Phil.

To Amy and Family,
I knew Phil at UMass. I lived at Brown as well and I recall some good conversations and lots of laughs with him and Bill Reardon. Phil wore a black beret all the time. I've been living in Worcester since 2010 and I'm sad I didn't now that Phil lived nearby and especially sad that he was sick. My thoughts go out to his family and friends and to the Worcester art community.

We lost a man of great talent; we lost a kind, thoughtful, generous soul. He will not be forgotten.
To his family, friends and colleagues my most heartfelt sympathy.

I have been out of town and just learned of Phil's passing today. My sincere sympathies to the family. I will miss Phil.
I met him at a college night affair at the museum some years ago and then saw him often at U. Mass. Medical School when he was doing his doctoral research a few doors down from the lab where I was. More recently, I encountered Phil at the museum where I am a docent and where he did such marvelous work. He was as kind and gentle as he was competent.

To Amy and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for all of you at this most difficult time. Please know that I am thinking of you and send prayers that God will give you all strength today and always. Fondly, Bev (Holden P.O.)

Dear Klausmeyers, one and all:

My family and I are so sorry for your loss. As I type these words, I'm looking at a picture that so clearly reflects the youthful and energetic elan of a special man, and I find his passing incomprehensible.

You Klausmeyers brought your inimitable style and character to Lenox 35 years ago, and you touched many of us. I especially remember Phil and Ed, associations influenced by our shared age. I loved Phil's distinctive character, his warmth, and...

It is with deep sadness that we received the news of Phil's passing. He was an incredible collaborator and friend in our technical work for the last 10 years. We will miss his brilliance, his sense of humor, and his devotion to his work and his colleagues.
