Not sure what to say?

The McKnight family made the Prairie Meadows neighborhood one of the best in Lawrence. Phil and Melinda raised wonderful children, and our children enjoyed interacting with them. I enjoyed working with Melinda in Brownie Scouts. And they were one of the first neighbors to come and share our sorrow when my husband passed. May they all be blessed at this time. We will miss Phil.

We met Phil and Melinda at Trinity Episcopal Church upon our return to Lawrence in 1983. Phil and Dennis worked together on the church board. He will be missed by many. Sending our thoughts and prayers to his surviving family members.

I worked with Phil for decades. The thousands of students that he served will remember him as I do--a saint. I am sure that his family knows what a wonderful person he was.

Sorry to hear that you left us, but I know you had a happy and fullfilling life. I'm honored for having met you and worked with you. Get some well-deserved rest.

Condolences to the McKnight Family. I had the pleasure of attending school with 2 of the 3 children and grew up in the neighborhood. Phil and his wife were the most genuine of people. I delivered the newspaper for many years and in those days we had to collect the money door to door. It was always a pleasure to "knock" on the door as it usually ended up in 15-20 minutes of wonderful conversations before getting a check and out to the next house. Hugs to Laura, Phil and Caroline for their...

Phil was a dear caring person and colleague. I always enjoyed his company. We commiserated over the loss of our wives in 2021 and we met frequently after that. He just never got over her loss. To me, Phil remains a shining example for the rest of my life and he will live in my heart until the end. Bon voyage on your eternal pilgrimage, Phil, and kisses to Melinda!

Dr. McKnight was a very influential teacher during my doctoral studies at KU, way back in the 1980's. He also served on my dissertation committee. I enjoyed his input very much. He will be missed.
