Not sure what to say?

"Coach Phil" was our Track and Field Coach at Camp Laney...a Summer Camp for Boys in Mentone Alabama in the early 60s. I remember how much I learned from Coach Mulkey in the 4 Summets I spent at Camp Laney. Coach Mulkey taught us how to be competitive...not only in track and field but also in life. RIP Phil Mulkey...and thank you.

In the spring of 1960 at a high school Regional Track Meet in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, we saw Phil Mulkey break each Tennessee high school track record in one day. He was in the Army and training for the '60 Olympics in Rome. Ever the gentleman, he broke all 9 Tennessee State Records ( there was no javelin throw allowed them) and treated every high school athlete like a prince. I still remember him all these years !

I knew Coach Mulkey at BUS. He was truly inspiring. I was in the same class as Phil Junior. He made me run like crazy and taught me hurdles, every field sport abs wrestling. A great man. RIP. Will Clay.

I knew Phil Mulkey back in the 1970s. We had a snack bar at Marist Academy. He sponsored what he called "sudden traditions.? We coined the "War Dogs" (hot dogs) and "Eagle Burgers." He was a powerful athlete and would always stop anything he was doing to teach any kind of athletes. We also partnered in a pizza business on the "Tenth Street Strip." "Francos" In the halcyon days of the hippies. We sold pizza by the slice. Did very well. He often worked out in the basement of my home in...

I was Mr Mulkey"s caregiver before I became a paraplegic he was an amazing man I became very fond of him . I often visit he . I was known as his girl Friday lol whatever that I'm going to truly miss him. I've been trying to reach someone in the family for a while.

I met Phil when he was with Robyn Andrews, here in Atlanta, where they operated Port O Call restaurant in then thriving Atlanta Flea Market......He was such a ball of energy, then.....still in his late 30's.....Years later we shared a radio broadcast....him, talking about The Olympics, and me, about Antique Jewelry.....we both thought that the strangest, most unlikely combination....so we laughed and commisurated during the show, broadcast from a Church, here in Atlanta.....Phil was a 'cool...

My brothers and I all knew Coach Mulkey from his time at St.Dominic´s in Memphis. I fondly recall his summer day camp when were the first kids picked up in the morning and last to be dropped off in the afternoon. He made up songs as he drove that school bus. While never much of an athlete myself I learned the beauty of track and field through him that I still have today. A wonderful individual to us young students. My sympathies to the family.

The entire community was blessed to have the Mulkey family in their midst! The academic, scholastic, personal & social contributions they made with Coach at the head were amazing. Seems like he brought excellence & class to everything he touched. I didn´t know him well, but definitely witnessed the positive effects of his commitment to everything he put into his community!

My most sincere condolences for the passing of your father, Phil. Nothing can replace a parent, we can only look back on the great moments and smile. Larry Muse
