Philip Phelps of Delray Beach, FL and Nantucket, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the age of 80. He will be remembered by his two children, Christopher and Elizabeth and their families, grandsons, Tristan Cramer and Winston Phelps; great-grandsons, Hunter and Cooper Cramer; and has gone to be with his beloved wife, Joyce of 56 years of marriage.

Phil was born in Syracuse, NY in 1933 and graduated from Syracuse University in 1956 with a BA and where he was a member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity. Phil married Joyce (Penny) Phelps in 1956 who passed away in 2012. He served in the U.S. Army spending 18 months in Korea and retired in 1976 from the U.S. Army Reserve as a major.

Phil worked for General Electric and R.W. Mitscher Company in his earlier years and started Phelps Associates in 1984 when arriving to Florida where he continued to work up until his passing.

He had been an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach, FL and had served as an Elder; The Little Club of Gulf Stream, FL and had served as both a governor and president in the past, and was involved with several different Nantucket conservation causes.

A memorial service at First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach will be held on Saturday, September 20 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can either be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach, 33 Gleason Street, Delray Beach, Florida 33483 or Hospice of Palm Beach County at 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
