Philip John Stahon

Philip John Stahon, 44, October 2, 1964 - September 8, 2009.

Resident of Charlottesville, for over 20 years. Philip was born in Erie, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Iroquois High School and attended Gannon University.

Phil met his wife, Nancy, in 1999 and they were married in 2000. Nancy and Philip had one son, Jonathan, and although he never bragged about him, Phil always wore an expression that communicated the deep and sincere pride he had for Jon. Of all the certainties in the world, there is none more certain than that Phil loved his son.

Philip was one of seven children born to loving parents, Joseph and Martha Stahon of Erie, Pennsylvania.

Philip will forever be remembered by his devoted brothers, Joe Stahon and his wife, Mary, and their children, Daniel and Adam; and Steve Stahon and his wife, Diane, and their children, Lauren, Matthew and Katharine. Phil leaves loving sisters, Anne Nemeyer and her husband, Michael; and their children, Maegan, Aaron and Ben, Martha Leech and her husband, Rodney; and their children Sam, David and Luke, Maria Perkins and her husband, Matt; and their children, Olivia and Hayden and Sara Cavicchio and her husband, Chad; and their children, Michael, Nicholas and Isabella; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Phil was blessed with many friends. He will always be held close in the hearts of those who were fortunate to have known him. Phil loved the beach, enjoyed the travels he had and was a true friend. Phil touched the lives of many people with his kindness and generosity of time, and maintained his sense of humor all the way to the end.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral mass 12:15 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2009, with family visitation 11:45 a.m. at Church of the Incarnation, 1465 Incarnation Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

Not sure what to say?

Joe. I'm sorry to hear about Phil. I hope all is well with you otherwise. Jerry Dyer. Cary, NC

I knew Philip from Gannon and I was shocked to see this in the obituaries. I had no idea. It's been many years since Philip and I have spoken just because life took us in different, busy directions. I often thought about trying to catch up to him again and didn't. I wasn't even sure if he was still in Virginia. I am so sorry for all of you in his family. He was a good hearted guy. You are in my prayers. My sincere sympathy, Maria Orlando
