Not sure what to say?

I have nothing but fond memories of Mr. Sweeney. Very professional and liked by all. RIP Mr. Sweeney.

I was one of the last classes to have had him as principal (Class of 1978 at Commerce). To me, he was more than a principal. He had an open door policy that was inviting. I knew if I had a problem at school, I could always go to him! RIP always, Mr. Sweeney! My young life back then was truly enriched by you!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers on this 9th anniversary of his passing. It means so much that people are still posting their memories. He was an exceptional man, principal and father. He is missed every day. Janet Sweeney

G.o.a.t. (prinicipal) rest in heavenly peace..never forgotten

As Lorna-del Alder, I attended Classical High with Mr Sweeney as Vice Principal. Because I was dancing 24 to 48 hours a week, he allowed me to add Spanish in place of gym. I didn't realize what a poor memory I had. I found myself studying an average of seven hours a night, but still got a D in Latin.
My grandmother and guardian was ill. She was afraid that I would become a ward of the state, if she passed. So I married at a very young age. My son was born 10 months later. In those days,...

Mr. Sweeney was my principle during my three years at Commerce. I too! Am a graduate of the High School of Commerce, class of 1975! Mr. Sweeney was a wonderful principle and a person who you could talk to about anything. He always made himself available, and so very easy to talk to. My sincere condolences to all his family.

I'll always remember our principal, Mr. Sweeney fondly, a truly great man,
Effie Marangoudakis-Peroulakis, class of 1971. Se agapo!

To the Sweeney family,

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Sweeney's daughter, Janet, this weekend in Vero Beach, FL. What a small world story for us, but I was so blessed to share my own wonderful memories of your Dad! As his last class of '81, please know he touched us all throughout his last year in '78-79 as principal.

He loved his kids, took the time to personally connect with us all. Forever grateful, forever missed and loved.

I want to thank everyone who left such heartfelt and kind messages on this guest book and at his wake and funeral. He was an amazing man and father and is missed by so many, especially me. Thank you so much everyone!!! Janet
