Not sure what to say?

Philippa and I became friends in Madison through figure skating.

Neil and John,

Very sorry and sad to learn of Philippa's death. What a loss for both of you and so many others. She was a source of genuine warmth and sly wit, with the greatest concern for others. Please know that she and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Fames (as she christened me)

Dear Neil and John, we have been out of the country for the past two weeks and were so sorry to hear about Philippa. She was responsible for bringing both of us to Wesleyan, and was a role model, mentor, inspiration and true friend for over 30 years. We will miss her very much. Our hearts go out to you both. Much love, Lorraine and Ron

Dear Neil and John,

We have just returned from abroad to news of Philippa's death. My best to you both. Philippa was simply uniquely wonderful and a blessing to us all.

I had the pleasure and honor of knowing Philippa over the last 45 years. She was an extraordinary and wonderfully warm person. I only regret not seeing her more often.

During Philippa's tenure as Chair of the Connecticut State Board of Mental Health & Addiction Services, I had the privilege of working with her as administrative support staff to the Board. It was an honor to know her as both colleague and friend. She touched the lives of many for the better in her lifetime, and I send my sincere condolences to her family. May God bless and comfort you. You are in my prayers.

I got to know Philippa through Neil. I regret not having gotten to know her while I was at Wesleyan, for her wisdom and warmth.

Philippa Coughlan generously gave her time, wisdom, support and offer of ongoing assistance when our family and son most needed reassurance and an ally at Wesleyan. She was a remarkable person - deeply caring, wise, witty, insightful and genuine. Wesleyan has lost an unsung heroine.

A Wesleyan mom

Dear Neil and family:

Our deepest sympathy on the death of Philippa. You and yours are in our family's prayers.
