Springfield, IL—Phillip Todd Anders, 52, of Springfield, died unexpectedly at 5:04 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018, at his home.
Phillip was born on June 26, 1966, in Springfield, the son of William R. and Linda Binetsch Anders, Sr.
Phillip graduated from Middleborough High School in MA and proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He was employed with Roofers Local Union 112 as an apprentice to become a hot tar roofer and later in life he became an independent contractor. He was the type of person who would drop everything to help someone in need, was kind-hearted, and a hard worker. Phillip enjoyed fishing, camping, and working on projects, especially learning new things—if he didn't know how to do something, he would learn how to.
Phillip loved spending time with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, William "Billy" R. Anders, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Richard S. and Ruth O. Binetsch; paternal grandparents, Carl W. and Mary Katherine Anders; uncle, Robert Allen Binetsch; and cousin, Richie Milburn.
He is survived by his daughter, Alecia Houston of Taylorville; grandchildren, Alexander Houston, Mikayla Knapp and Zoe Scott; mother, Linda (husband, Ronald) Brown of Pleasant View, TN; siblings, William "Billy" R. (wife, Roslina) Anders, Jr. of Springfield, Robyn (husband, Marcus) Folks of Joelton, TN, Andrea Martin of Mechanicsburg, and Kevin (wife, Becky) Brown of Springfield; nieces and nephews, Jasmine, Trever, Matthew, Mahri, Robert, Leeann and Maddie; cousins, Troy, Tiffany, Tricia, Michael, Jenney, Joe, Billy, and Theresa; and beloved dog, Maggie.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Avenue West, Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following the visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford House, 1235 N. 5th St., Springfield, IL 62702.
