Not sure what to say?

It was a privilege to have been a classmate of Gene's through many school years in Toldeo. What fun we had reconnecting at our 50th Class Reunion. We are so sorry he won't be at the next one. Judy, although we are unable to attend the service, our thoughts of encouragement and condolence are with you.

I am so sorry Judy. Gene was a good friend to my husband and later so kind and helpful to me.

Gene was a strong man who was willing to give you a smile, share some conversation and always with an upbeat nature. His smile was warm and inviting. Sharing time with him on the dock at the Embarcadero, at Rotary or at the Elks Lodge were always special. His time and commitment to his family and the greater Newport community made a person feel welcome. He was a role model. Best wishes to his family in this time of tremendous loss. Do what he would do, be strong...

I was so sad to open my paper this morning and see Gene's smiling face on the obituary page. I've been thinking of him, Judy and the kids all day. He was a sweet, dear man who was so supportive. He also loved a good laugh and that's how I will remember him. I'm sure all of Lincoln County is grieving.

I had seen Gene just a couple of weeks before he and Judy left for Arizona, He looked and seemed to be in good health so it was with great sadness when I heard he had passed. Gene has been my friend since Hi School. He was a Great asset to the city of Newport and will be missed. My condolenses to his family. Rest in Peace Gene, you have earned it.

I are so sorry to hear of Gene's passing. You may not remember me but I was fortunate enough to spend a wonderful week in Alaska with Gene and my high school "best friend" Wayne Castle.
It was a week of fun, laughter and joy for me to meet Gene and to see what a wonderful man he was. No wonder, Wayne thought the world of him. He was truly special and someone I wished I could have spent a lot of time with. May God bless you and help you through this difficult time. I am sorry...

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Gene was such a good man and in the way he took care of the many families you both served over your many years in Newport. I remember the times I would stop by and visit when in your area and Gene would stop what ever he was doing to visit. He always made you right at home. On several occasions I was with Ken Murphy, whih Gene and Ken together they kept you in stitches. God Bless Gene and may his soul have enternal rest, he so deserved....

We are so sorry.
