There have been many times since Phil's passing that I have thought about him. He had a major impact on my development as a school leader. He was my mentor and friend. I will forever miss Phil and never forget how blessed I was to know him personally.

Sad news . "Mr. Flaherty" was such a great guy. I have very fond memories of him showing up just as baseball practice was winding down - 2 or 3 times a week . He would tell me to stick around for a while after everyone else left , and for the next 10 or 15 minutes , I would "warm him up" . I guess he was a pretty good pitcher in his day , he loved baseball , and he just loved to get on the mound and throw for a while , maybe it helped him unwind , who knows , he was very busy back then....

I fondly remember Coach Flaherty from winter track ('68-'70). He would make the pre-dawn rounds in his station wagon picking up those of us who didn't have a way to get to school early for morning practice. I was probably the slowest kid on the team (never scored a point in any meet in 3 years) but that didn't make any difference to him. A wonderful, wonderful man!

May you find comfort in knowing that Phil did so much to enrich the lives of others throughout his career as an educator and his service to the MSSAA.Phil became my mentor in 1989.He inspired me with his wisdom and regularly reminded me to stick to my principles as a school leader. My wife Linda and I had many memorable visits with Phil and Pat at our annual conferences in Falmouth. We shared a love for Scotties and Guss once spent the weekend at our home. A visit my children will never...

Over a period of 40 years, You Phil, were my colleague, peer, and friend. You were wise but never aloof, a man of letters always most willing to utilize that skill and gift to advance the good and best positions in life. Your thoughtful and profound counsel advanced so many, and saved others! You and your beloved Pat are now where you can be the eternal couple you have earned through your special love. God will bless you Both forever.
Amen to a life well lived. [dick neal; ret....
