Phillip Lewis Geissler

I just heard the news today. I knew Phill & Rebecca while they were in Boston. An absolutely tremendous loss for all of us who knew him. A great loss for humanity as well. So much more to give to the world. A kind, generous, humble, funny man. He will be remembered in all the good memories we have and we will see him in our dreams and in a wondrous future he helped build.

My deepest condolences to the entire family. My memories of Philip are many and wonderful. He was a sweet, funny and wonderful human being who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Phill was a truly unique person I'm lucky to have known. I always admired and looked up to him, as did so many in the Berkeley Chem community. Among his many great qualities, what stood out most was his humility and empathy. This was at the heart of his seemingly-supernatural ability to make complex subjects approachable to anyone, from first-year undergrads to grad students and postdocs.
