Athens Phillip Steven Hewitt, 36, of Athens died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023 at his home. Born Jan. 13, 1987 in Athens, he is the son of Steven Arthur Hewitt and Mary Beth Coffman Hewitt of The Plains.

A graduate of Athens High School. Phillip enjoyed playing football and baseball throughout his life. The biggest Steelers fan in Ohio. He enjoyed the outdoors, playing pool, target shooting / reloading, wood working and was an excellent mechanic, he had been employed at Athens Mold and Machine and Lowe's of Athens.

Phillip is survived by his parents; a sister, Bethany (Brandon) Lackey of Stewart; three brothers, Derrick Hewitt, Shawn Hewitt and Christopher Hewitt all of The Plains; also surviving are three nieces (Chloe Hewitt, Hanna Hewitt, and Aria Lackey), two nephews (Caden Hewitt, and Holden Hewitt) and several aunts, uncles and cousins and his girlfriend Jonnette.

A private family service will be observed. Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Phil was one of the sweetest, hard working and most respectable kids I ever had work for me, and I will never forget him. I am so so sorry for your heartache. I will forever remember how cool and collected he was when he foiled a potential robber at our storean awesome memory of him I will never forget. Many prayers of comfort to your family.

I loved working with Shawn and Phillip at the C&E hardware store. My heart breaks that he is no longer with us. Sending all the family my love and especially to Shawn. Please always feel free to reach out to me. I’d love to hear from you! I’m so sorry and I love you all!

I 1st met Phil a little over 2 years ago when my wife Lisa and I bought our house,next door to Phil,fast forward a year and I get hired at A.M.M,where Phil trained me on my machine. He was beyond patient with me and ALWAYS willing to answer any questions I had.he will truly be missed,so sorry for your loss
