Mr. Joyce was my Freshman advisor at Shady Side Academy. It was my first year at a new school and my first (since Kindergarten) experience with coeducation. I had every reason to be nervous but Mr. Joyce was so kind and such a great advisor that I ended up knowing he was one of the coolest teachers, and I got the distinction of being one of his advisees. I still have some of my report cards that he wrote in perfect calligraphy and made every letter beautiful. I will never forget meeting...

Mr. Joyce touched so many lives at Shady Side Academy, and I am very grateful to have been one of them. I hope he knew the profound impact he had on my life. Had I not encountered this tough, hard nosed, loving, gentle man, my life would have turned out very differently.
