LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Phillip C. Schlechty died in his home in Louisville, Kentucky, on Jan. 7, 2016, at the age of 78. Phil was born on April 7, 1937, in Rossburg, Ohio, to Herbert and Mary Schlechty.

As part of a small group of fairly new school principals, I was indeed lucky to participate in ongoing training with Dr. Schlechty. His teaching truly enhanced my knowledge and talent in school administration. We all loved him and looked forward to each experience with him. A magnificent gentleman and scholar!

Hello Family and Friend s of Dr. Phillip Schlechty,
I a read a couple of his books and I am using him as a reference in my dissertation. He said so many things about education and society that really clarified how schools are organized.

I am truly grateful for his contributions to the field of education.

May he rest in peace and he family's hearts not be troubled.

I have just now learned of Phil's passing and certainly there is such a deep sense of loss. He was an incredible individual and an inspiration. Without doubt his work will continue to be a catalyst for the transformation of education. Phil was such a dear, dear man and brilliant. He will be missed. Phil was an extraordinary educator and thinker. He made a difference in many lives through his work in the field. He will be missed, but his work will go one forever. I will miss him, he was a mentor and light for me in our field. Rest in peace. Love and prayers to your loved ones.
