Phillip D. Smith

Radm Smith was a dear friend. He and I served in our first squadron together at NAS Norfolk. We also served as best men in both our weddings in July 1959. P.D. was an absolute joy to be around, whether flying or partying. He had a great sense of humor which he displayed often and heartily. He was an outstanding Naval Officer and the only one that I ever knew that was outstanding enough to leave the Navy, work in the civilian world, then rejoin the US Navy and become a Flag Officer. ...
