Phillip Smith

I had the distinct honor of worshipping God with P.D. Smith at Heritage Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, Virginia. P.D. was a man of deep faith, with a hunger to know God and serve his fellow human. He was an Elder, a Sunday School Teacher, a performer for Children during Vacation Bible School, and a great example of what a Christian Gentleman should be. He was direct, humorous, and humble. I had the great privilege of serving under then Commodore Smith in Hawaii as one of his squadron CO's and I can think of no finer officer, motivator, or example of a great man than Admiral Smith. His mantra was always "work hard and play hard" and its infectious nature led to superlative performance by all that served under him.
