Dr. Phillip Karl Williams Sr.

Dr. Phillip K. Williams, Sr. M.D., 67, of Springfield, passed away at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, November 4, 2001 at St. John's Hospital. Phillip was born October 26, 1934 the son of Herbert N. and Phylis Schultz Williams in Detroit, MI. He married Barbara Eisenhauer in 1958 in Gross Pointe, MI. Dr. Williams completed his undergraduate studies at Western Michigan College, and his graduate studies in Radiology at the University of Michigan. Upon graduation, he served as a doctor in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War. Dr. Williams was a member of the Springfield Radiology Group and retired from St. John's Hospital in 1998, after 30 years of service. Dr. Williams was a member of Island Bay Yacht Club and a retired member of the American Medical Association. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Herb Williams. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Leigh Williams of Springfield; two sons, Douglas A. Williams of Houston, TX and Phillip K. Williams Jr. of Springfield; three gradchildren, Taylor Evan Williams, Phillip K. Williams III and Amanda Leigh Williams; one sister, Denise Martin; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering honoring the life of Dr. Williams will be Tuesday, November 6, 2001, at Kirlin - Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 South Street, where friends may visit from 6-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Ronald McDonald House of Central Illinois, 610 North 7th Street, Springfield, IL 62702-5329.
