Not sure what to say?

Dear Patricia, Mr. Duffy, and family: I wanted very much to attend your mom's (Mrs. Duffy's) wake and funeral but my two year old was very sick with the flu. I have been thinking about you and your family ever since hearing from my brother that Mrs. Duffy passed away. I remember her as a parent who was always interested in us when we were kids. I enjoyed talking with her and received encouragement from her. I always loved to be offered your mother's shortbread or other delicious homemade...

Growing up next to the Duffys was like having a little bit of the oulde sod nearby. She used to babysit all of the children in the neighborhood while our parents were at work and on errands, and it was a lot of fun. She was always running around taking care of everything, and I still remember the pantry with orange marmalade and biscuits. Her lilt was genuine and unpretentious, and her jokes and smiles put you at ease. I'll miss her.

Dermot I'm very sorry to hear of your sad loss and would like you to know that at this difficult time you are in all our prayers.

I still can't believe it! I can still hear her and "see" her!
She will always remain in my heart and memory. What a friend she was -- whether sorting rummage ("When in doubt, throw it out"), sewing for the Christmas bazaar, talking, laughing, partying, discussing books and plays and fashion and religion and whatever else came to mind. She was SO special. I will truly miss her.
My condolences to her entire extended family and her many, many friends.

Leah & Family I am very sorry to hear of your Grandmothers passing. My condolences go to you and your family.

Sorry about loss, I hope everyone is doing fine. My mother Helen Martin also sends her best.

How sad to see the passing of another wonderful person from my childhood. My Mom called me this morning and told me that Mrs. Duffy had died.I remember when you moved in next door to Cronins.
Mrs. Duffy was a wonderful person and even after all these years when she saw me she immediately knew who I was.
I will be keeping you in my prayers.
Ellen

My wife Marsha and our children Melanie and Drew want to express our condolences to your family. We were so happy that she could come and share in our wedding this past fall in Santa Barbara.

Dear Mr. Duffy & Family,
I am so sorry to hear about the death of Mrs. Duffy. Many fun times were shared with your family as we were growing up in Rogers Park. It didn't matter whose house we were in, we were all like family & so many cups of tea were shared around the kitchen table. I will always remember the friendship & support shown towards my family during those difficult years after mom & dads auto accident. Unfortunately our children will grow up without having experienced these...
