I remember Ray's very kind and interesting stepmother v well, having been welcomed as a guest in her house in Greenwich and in Massachusetts in the mid-1960s. She was a wonderful stepmother to Ray and his siblings and I remember well her adorable little children, including the twins, whom we took to the beach. I believe she taught me how to wash dishes (!)

Dear Fiona and James, I am in so sorry about your loss. I have had the pleasure to have met Phoebe at family gatherings and her home. Her kindness, smiles and hugs are still vivid. She will be forever remembered as the most loving and light spirited lady and dear grandma. May the fond memories of her bring comfort and strength to you at this difficult time. I am very sorry to hear about the death of your mother. Mrs. Hornblower taught my older sister, Fran, how to design, pattern and sew her own clothes while a student at Greenwich Country Day.
