Phyllis, although I didn't meet you in Memphis, or share classes with you at MAnassas, I knew you through your sister Bertha.In fact,I once proudly proclaimed to everyone:"We are homegirls!", which was met with your unique laughter. I thoroughly enjoyed the rides and conversations on the way to the subway and was always riveted when you decided it was time to add the voice of reason to sorority discusions. I had the plaesure of working with Phyllis when we both worked at the Department of Employment. I will always remember her laughter.

Phyllis Atwater told me being in my 40's was the do'nt care years. At the time I didnt understand now that I'm well in my 40's I understand more than ever. In the begining we had our ups & downs. After I got to know Phyllis I found out she was a smart and fun loving person. All my love & support to her famliy may she rest in peace always.
