Phyllis Gilbert Borea

Tall, commanding, and with a sometimes rather dour demeanor that belied a quick wit and dry, wry sense of humor, Phyllis was a presence. She was talented; beautiful in her youth (as we saw from the double photo frame at her memorial--one side a young Raimondo; the other, a young and very striking Phyllis; devoted to her children; and highly professional in her work. Everyone who had known her at Gourmet had a kind and fond word to say when they heard of her death. I'm sad for Carla's loss....

Phyllis was a smart and talented woman with whom I enjoyed working in the art department of Gourmet magazine. I appreciated her unique sense of humor, and will always hold fond memories of her. She was one of a kind. Another artistic spirit has left us.
