Not sure what to say?

Phyllis was a wonderful woman and advocate for special needs children. My special needs son spent three years at Grandin Court REACH, and I appreciated every thing she did for him and for all the children.

I am sorry for the loss of your, daughter, sister and friend.
I met Phyllis when my daughter began kindergarten at Grandin Court.
I was impressed by how quickly she could call every student by name so early in the school year. She also had an uncanny ability to relay honest compassion and respect while asserting authority. Phyllis was an extraordinary woman passionate about her students staff and education. Her spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of those who knew her...

"One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child." -- Carl Jung
This quote spoke to me of the reason my children and I found Phyllis such a great educator - she never lost sight of the souls of the children for whom she was responsible. What a loss her early passing is.

I've worked with many principals & Phyllis was the best. Her love for the children, concern for the staff, and care for the families of students and staff was amazing. She remembered everyone and cared about each of us and always greeted us with a smile - like we were the best thing to happen to her that day. I, and my family, have your family in our thoughts & prayers.

she was my Principal at Grandin Court Elementary school. She always had a smile on her face and loved the kids there. I'll never forget her doing the announcements and tell us that our bus is "ready to load". She will be greatly missed.

I am deeply saddened to hear of this news. Phyllis was a true professional and an asset to the educational system in Roanoke City Public Schools. I will miss her.

Phyllis and I went to Gretna Sr. High School together. I remember her as always being friendly to everyone. So sorry to hear of her passing.

Phyllis will be greatly missed. She was an awesome educator and her love for children was far greater than I can explain. I appreciated her stong dedication to work for children with disabilities and her willingness to fight for their right to education. My thoughts and prayers are with you.- Maxine Austin-Casey (Salem City Schools)

Ms. Cundiff was and has always been my favorite principal. She was so loving and caring! When I would run into her from time to time, she would always remember me, even after almost 10 years. My thoughts are with you!
