Phyllis J. Kraus, 86, of New Carlisle, IN (formerly of South Bend, IN) passed away at 6:25 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013. She was born on December 8, 1926 to the late Clifford A. and Juanita P. (VanBuren) Kinyon in South Bend, IN, and has lived in New Carlisle since 1991. Along with her parents; one son, Kenneth E. Krause; one sister, Katheryn Price; and two brothers, Richard and William Kinyon also preceded her in death. Mrs. Krause retired in 2003 from the Original Ralph's Bakery in New Carlisle, IN, where she worked as a baker for 10 years. Prior to that, Phyllis worked at the Melady Shop at University Park Mall in Mishawaka, IN; Wymans's Department Store in South Bend, IN; and Freeman Spicer Automobile Dealership in South Bend, IN. On November 23, 1946, as Phyllis J. Kinyon, she married William Charles Krause, Jr. in South Bend, IN. He died on November 14, 1981. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Janice (Terry) Dale of South Bend, IN; five grandchildren, Scott Krause, Vikki Krause, Craig (Karen) Dale, Peggy Dale, Todd (Natalie) Krause; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Meredith; and two brothers, Ronald and Dennis Kinyon. Phyllis dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to bake and share with all of her family & friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and watching the boats at New Buffalo Beach. Her cat Taffy was her faithful companion. Cremation will take place. Visitation will be from 1 – 3 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, IN, where a Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Kaniewski Funeral Home, with Rev. Donald Bayne, Jr. officiating.
