Phyllis J. Kress

Our department grieves the passing of Phyllis Kress. Everyday we are reminded of her attention to detail as we walk through the magnificent collection of costumes and clothing that she amassed in her time here at UCD. Her traditions continue, as she passed the torch of her work to former students Roxanne Femling and Professor Maggie Morgan. Her dedication and hard work in the department live on at UCD. Phyllis was a wonderful friend and artist. Because of her I have Teddy, the Bichon. I will miss seeing her in the neighborhood and seeing her at the gallery. We always had wonderful conversations about art and our pups. I will miss her!

Phyllis was a wonderful artist and friend and I was honored to know her. She will be missed dearly.

I am very sad to read of Phyllis' passing. She was a kind and generous person and it was a pleasure to have known and worked with her. I did wigs for many of her shows at Davis and after she retired I would still see her at art shows. She rescued cats and kittens and was responsible for giving me one of the best cats I've ever had. Rest in peace, Phyllis.
