Phyllis Newhouse

A friend sent me this obituary of Phyllis who I knew through her extraordinary store. Phyllis had an amazing eye for quality and beauty. She was one of a kind and forthright as she is described here. She was frank about clothing, but she was also complimentary, kind, and deeply interested in the lives of others. I met Phyllis in the 1980s when I lived in Palo Alto and found her store. Phyllis was a wonderful regular guest at Il Fornaio. She brought a lot of joy and laughter into the restaurant and we were lucky to have her as a guest, not only a guest but part of the family. We will miss her dearly.

I so fondly remember Phyllis! She and my father , Peter, had a relationship for several years and she was a creative, loving woman. So wish we had kept in touch over the years. My condolences to the family.

I met Phyllis over 25 years ago via our mutual involvement in the Ridhwan School/Diamond Approach. Her boutique and our mutual joy in fashion was where our friendship blossomed. Phyllis' store and her personality were a catalyst for bringing others together. Through Phyllis I met some of my closest current friends.
