Phyllis Rappeport

I just learned of this sad loss. I know that my piano technique improved immeasurably in just the short time I spent studying with Phyllis. I have very fond memories of studying with her, along with Terry Turner-Jones and Roosevelt Newman, during Seminar 79 and Seminar 80, as well as through the school of music in 1981-82. Reem, Rand, Haider, Fadwa, and myself are missing you so much. You used to take care of us as a (The Family Godmother). We remeber you everday, together we shared a very nice memories. And since when you gone, we don't celebrate birthdays anymore. We'll never forget you.

I was young & newly married when I was blessed to have her as my piano instructor at WMU. Her matter of fact leading inspired me to be attentive in my own teaching to my students. I still hear her corrections and see her arm directing beside me. My condolences to the family. Be assured she lives on in many of her students.

Requiescat in pace, Phyllis. You were a great performer and an outstanding teacher. Every time I sit at the piano, I recall something from the five years that I was privileged to be your student.
