Mrs. Phyllis Sawyer Reaves, 74, wife of Talmadge “Bee” Reaves, and of Dillon, joined the Heavenly Choir after a sudden illness at her residence on the afternoon of November 2, 2021.
Phyllis, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and all-around good friend was born in Marion County, South Carolina on April 16, 1947, the daughter of the late Jeter Delone “Tom” Sawyer and the late Elma Olive Cooke Sawyer. Phyllis was retired and was a homemaker, doing everything she could to make sure her family and grandbabies were taken care of. She was a member of Praise Temple Church, where she shared a deep love for the Lord and her church family. If the doors were open, she was in church.
Surviving Phyllis in addition to her loving husband of forty-four years, and of the home are a daughter, Tammy (Steve) King of Lake View; her stepson, Stevie (Jane) Reaves of Dillon, her stepdaughter, Nickie Reaves of Dillon; a daughter-in-law, Christy Rogers of Latta; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; her special Buddy as well as a great grandchild: Mason Ayers; a special friend, Faye Miller; her sister, Betty Lou Hayes of Columbia; her brothers: J.C. (Mary Jane) Sawyer of Fork, Neal (Brenda) Sawyer of Fork, and Robert (Loressa) Sawyer of Cool Springs; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was predeceased by her much beloved son, Michael Rogers, two sisters, Mildred Hyatt and Frances Hardin; and three brothers, Thomas Sawyer, Gene Sawyer, and James Sawyer.
Visitation for Phyllis will be held Friday, November 5 from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Praise Temple, 6757 Watson Bay Court, in Marion.
Her funeral service will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary of Praise Temple, with Rev. Eddie Baker officiating. Mrs. Reaves will the be laid to rest in Mayers Memorial Park Cemetery in Mullins, with the services directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reaves, “My last will and testament, All my love to all my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. I pray that those of you that don’t know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, that you will ask forgiveness of your sins and ask him into your heart so that you can live for Him the rest of your days and you can spend eternity with him.”
