Phyllis and Ken opened both their basement party room and their hearts to the teenagers who loved being there. The lifetimes she had since I first met her more than 40 years ago include Ken's wife, the girls' mom, career woman, grandmother/babysitter, caregiver to her own mother, and genuinely loving person. Phyllis was always one of my favorite Camp Fire Girl "Moms" when Valerie and I were in the group together. She was unfailingly kind and wise. She had a way of looking at you to let you know she really did see you and care about you. My thoughts are with Valerie, Verdeen and Vanessa in their loss.
