We were so sorry to hear that Phyllis had died this past weekend. Steve and I both were so fond of her . I spent quite a few hours laughing and talking with her during my time at VT . She was such a gracious, warm and witty lady . You will be in our thoughts and prayers as you mourn the loss of your mother.

I worked with Phyllis at rhe College Bookstore 50 years ago with Jo Durham, Mr. Clingenpell and others. What a friend . She was. Like a Mother to me. I spent the night with her. I remember she; always talked. About Patty, Mary Ruth and Robbie.

You all are in our thoughts and prayers. We are out of town on vacation but we are holding your family in our thoughts and prayers. Mrs. Tate was a special patient and friend we will miss her.

My mom and I are so saddened by your loss. Your mother and your family were such a big part of my childhood. For some reason, when I picture your mom, I see a beautiful,genteel Southern lady giggling in a chair. Isn't that funny. But I think the "girls" did a lot of laughing together and that is what I remember. I know my mom will write later when she is out of the hospital. We talked about Phyllis last night before bed and the nice visit she and Faye had with her last summer. They were lucky...

Phyllis Tate was a dear friend as well as my sister-in-law. She kept the faith and did all God required her to do. A wonderful example to all of us.
