My mother, June A De Haan (Schulz) always felt that Phyllis was her best friend growing up. Even in her later years, she was always brightest after a phone visit with Phyllis. Even in my own memory I remember visiting her home on Sherman street when I was a very young boy. God bless her family. May they celebrate a wonderful woman and a wonderful life lived. My condolences to the Verwys family. I worked with Phyllis at the KISD Skills Center when I was 18. I was only there for one year but she left a deep impression on my heart. She was kind and willing to go teach me all she knew. I learned so much about professionalism in the workplace from her. I am forever thankful that our paths crossed. May she rest in peace.
