Not sure what to say?

As time goes by, the good works of Phyllis continue as her daughter Nancy is fighting for those who need her help the most. what a wonderful legacy has been left for the world community and those of us in Martinez!

I was just telling my 25 year old daughter about my favorite teacher, Mrs. Wainwright. She gave me my love of poetry. I went on to write poetry and songs and had a couple published. I loved her so much. After telling Holly about her red hair and her alabaster skin and freckles galore I had a very vivid dream about her that night and it was great. With love,
Nancy Handlery

Mrs. Winnie was my 8th grade English teacher at Pine Grove. She was an amazing teacher who could turn our restless energy into something creative. When 13 year old's actually looked forward to going to her class you know she must have been something special.

Phyllis always inspired me to be involved in my community, and I was always impressed and astonished at her high level of energy and her completely open arms to anyone who came her way. I have some photos of her helping, I think we were doing a spaghetti feed to raise money for a school cause or something. She was so kind to me..she would spend hours talking to me in her living room.
I will never forget how impressed I was that she came down to Armando's with Nancy a couple years ago...

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I remember Mrs. Wainwright very well. She was my 4th grade teacher at Glorietta Elementary School in Orinda in 1963-64! She was very patient and had a great giggle and at that time, I thought it was so rare to see an adult with red hair like hers! What a long and fulfilled life she had. Rest in peace.

She loved Martinez and she will be sorely missed.
