Pita Lauina Asiata returned home to his Heavenly Father on October 28, 2013. He was born in a
humble village call Satupa?itea on the South east coast of Savai?i Island in Western Samoa, to Gogosina White and Tavu?i Tuimaseve Asiata, but raised by his great Aunt Ali?itasi Faifua. He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1969.
He arrived in American in 1974 for one reason, to work and save up to bring the rest of the family from Samoa. He was the oldest child and is survived by three siblings: Fa?avae, Mere, and Fa?apo.
He graduated from Los Amigos High School in Southern California in 1977. In 1981 he married Fualole Matemate and began their family together. He is survived by five children: Segalesulu, Tupusala, Gogosina, married to Metui Laloni, Matthew, married to Tangiofa Atiga (children: Ioana-Fualole, Ephraim, Shawnee-Leslie) and Shawn, married to Makeleta Fauolo (daughter, Alilia, and one on the way).
In 1994, Dad and Mom sealed their family in the Los Angeles LDS Temple for time and all eternity. In 2000 he moved his family to Utah, and watched his children grow and play sports all over the state and country. He was a kind, loving and humble man.
A family service will be held on Sunday evening, November 3, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Vaiola LDS Ward, 53 East 350 North, North Salt Lake - Everyone Welcome - the burial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 4, 2013 also at the same location.

I was hoping this wasn't the man who drove me and my friends to Wendover on the Fun Bus. I'm so sad and upset to realize it was him. I wish we would've talked about football, because I grew up a Vikings fan and would've high-fived him, had I known. I felt so lucky that we were given such a patient and kind driver, because I think a bus full of lesbians is a...

Pete on DUP Trip Aug 2013
My condolences to your family. I just met Pete last August. He was our driver for the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Central Utah Tour. I had the pleasure of meeting him and conversing with him during lunch in Panguich, UT. I really liked Pete. Like you said, he was a humble man, but had a quiet sense of humor. He spoke highly of you, his family. He said he was married with 5 kids and was proud of each one. He told me of Matt and Shawn that were football players. As you can see in...
