Read MoreSeveral years ago I visited the Dane Hansen museum in Logan, Ks. I was greeted by a lady and we struck up a conversation. I mentioned that my father had known Mr Hansen in the 30's and that I was named after him. Well, that got me the Polly Bales treatment! She pretty much gave me a tour of the museum and stories too. I only met Mrs. Bales that one time but I'll never forget her. My condolences to family and friends.

Found myself for a split second wanting to tell Mom (Lois Clinesmith) that her dear cousin Polly had passed away, and then realized that of course they are now enjoying each other once again. Mom loved Polly dearly, and I remember Polly's generosity over and over to Mom and Dad. One time when we were on furlough, Polly took Mark and me into a candy store and let us fill up a bag with whatever candies we wanted. We were elated! Much sympathy to Polly's loved ones.
