Not sure what to say?

Just found out about Dr Black's ("Sonny's") passing. I knew him from the time he spent as an intern/resident at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston. He was very highly respected and very well liked by the staff in my department, the Emergency Ward. It was obviously to us that he would do great things as a surgeon. I'll pass the word along to my EW colleagues and I send my deep condolences to his family and friends.

I was aspiring to become a medical student back in the early 1980's, and sat in on weekly surgery grand rounds at what was then called Children's Hospital Medical Center. I am sorry to hear that Dr. Black passed, and at such a young age, a terrible loss of talent. I am astonished, after all these years, to learn that he was "Sonny" Black instead of "Sunny" Black, because he was like the sun: warm, bright, with a strong gravitational pull.

Amazing Person and Surgeon who taught me to work harder thank anyone because of my color. Miss him dearly

I miss my Uncle Sonny so much!

Dear Mrs. Black and Family,
I am sadden to learn of the passing of your husband. I was searching online and decided to look up the brother by our father the late Ernest Robert Black and learned of his demise. Please accept my heart felt condolences. I am extremely remised as I will never have the pleasure of knowing him. Gods speed,
Linda Black Bell

Dear Mrs. Black, I just recently heard of your husband's passing and was conpelled to send my condolences, although far too late. Dr. Black performed surgery on my first born son the day he was born, July 3, 1999 for tracheal esophogeal fistula. It was a very upsetting and frightening time for me, but he made me feel that my newborn was safe in his hands. After an obviously delicate surgery my son is a healthy almost 14 year old who is now taller than me and as active as any child his age....

Dear Mrs. Black,
I just found out today that your husband, the amazing Dr. Black, passed away. I am so very sorry for your loss. I brought my son in to his pediatrician for a possible hernia and I told the doctor that I wanted Dr. Black as the surgeon again. My oldest daughter was 5 years old when she had surgery for a triple hernia. Dr. Black was not only a skilled surgeon but also a kind and compassionate man. My daughter had difficulty coming out of anesthesia, and he even sat and...

Mrs. Black,

It's September 2011 and we just found out about Dr. Black and his passing. We are so sorry to hear this. As you undoubtedly know, your husband helped so many families including ours. I will never forget your husband telling us that the very delicate surgery on one of our 3-day old twin girls was successful and she would have no problem being an active little girl playing tennis or whatever sport she wanted. It is now 11 years since that September 2000 surgery and...

Dear Black Family/Friends/Coworkers and "his children"....
Just wanted to add a note to the guest book as a reminder that "our" angel will never be forgotten. Julia Bachta is now 8yrs old and is in 2nd grade writing about OUR FAMILES HERO in her report. This is the second time I have had the honor and the priviledge to assist in writing about such a great man to a second grade class (my second daughter Stefanie wrote about him 3yrs ago). Julia enjoyed reading and giggling about Dr. Black...
