Priscilla Anderson Obituary

Priscilla Anderson

May 15, 1937 - November 1, 2024

Priscilla Mae "Pris" Rauch Anderson, 87, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed peacefully from this life Friday, November 1, 2024 at Cedar Ridge Village in West Des Moines. Services in Celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 14th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Rd., Davenport, IA. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made toward Meals on Wheels www.mealsonwheelsamerica.org or Everychild (formerly: Child Abuse Council) www.foreverychild.org.

Priscilla was born in 1937 in Blue Island, Ill., to Ernest and Irene Rauch. She attended First Lutheran School in Blue Island, Ill. from first through eighth grade until 1951 and graduated from Blue Island Community High School in 1955. She attended Northern Illinois in DeKalb and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority before graduation with a BA degree at Marycrest College in 1973.

She married Gerald "Jerry" Anderson on October 26, 1957, in Blue Island, Ill. She enjoyed her career as an elementary school reading teacher and retired from Pleasant Valley School District, 1996. She was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport, and in her later years, she attended Bettendorf Christian Church. Priscilla's focus in life was the church, her family, and the love of her life, Jerry. With a beautiful smile and "large as life" personality and by taking a great interest in the welfare of those she met, she developed many lasting friendships. She contributed to numerous charitable organizations, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Grey Ladies at the hospital, answered emergency phone calls for the Domestic Abuse Council for women/children hotline and took great joy in witnessing for her Lord.

She loved raising her three children and building a Christ filled home. She is well known for her "momisms" or funny sayings and Halloween witch cackle. In later years, she relished being with her family on numerous vacations and marveling at the wonders of Christ through scripture and nature's beauty.

In retirement, she loved the winters on the beach in Port Aransas, Texas, and summers at the Big Sand Lake in Phelps, Wis. Through the years, she enjoyed singing. Her voice was both angelic and operatic. She used her God given talent by being part of the Zion Lutheran Church Choir and would sing solos when opportunities arose. In addition to singing, her leisure interests included Bible Study, travel, playing cards, and being with her loved ones.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, daughter, Kristin (Mark) Grunder of Castle Rock, Colo.; sons, Jeffrey (Betty) Anderson of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Steven (Blanka) Anderson of Richardson, Texas; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Shai) Grunder Fullmer, Matthew (Angie) Grunder, and Mitchell (Sydney) Grunder, Cory Anderson, and Raquel Anderson; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Grunder and Weston Grunder; brother, Richard (Laura) Rauch of Chebanse, Ill.

Family members preceding her in death are her husband, Gerald Anderson; sister, Joyce Rauch Stuart; and parents, Ernest Rauch and Irene Patno Rauch.

Pris and I were social and fellow teachers. She was dedicated to insure that her reading students recieved the very best in reading help.
Until I moved we had an ocassional lunch to share what we were doing as retirees. My husband and I had visited their delightful cabin at Sand Lake where they had spent many happy summers. Their daughter Crissie was in my teaching class.
Sympathy to the family.
