I thank God for allowing me to be mentored by Sis. Bates, who was a Woman of Faith, small in stature but mighty in character and integrity. My prayers are with the family and all who came in contact with her.

I've known Sis. Bates since I was a little girl in Sunday school at the church on Union St., and she has watched me grow into womanood. I remember her grace and elegance, and her playing briefly for our choir. I last spoke with her at her home during my wedding consultation with Pastor Bates, and I was surprised at how much she knew and remembered about me - even stuff from when I was little. Sis. Bates has always been a classy lady, and she will be greatly missed by the Mt.Zion family; but...
