Jr. Pounders
Quinon Roosevelt “Junior” Pounders, 68, of Caledonia, MS passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at his residence.
A graveside service will be Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 10:00 AM at McDufief Cemetery Hamilton, MS with Bro. Granville Wiggins officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.
Mr. Pounders was born January 20, 1953, in Aberdeen, MS to the late Quinon “QR” Pounders and Eunice Irene Shepherd Pounders. He coached numerous baseball, softball, and soccer teams and he enjoyed hanging out with his grandchildren. Mr. Pounders enjoyed bike riding and he was a master of storytelling. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pounders is preceded in death by his brothers- Roger Lee “Buzzard” Pounders and Norman” Moochie” Doyle Pounders; and sister- Brenda Farley.
Mr. Pounders is survived by his wife-Sue Ellen Pounders of Columbus, MS; daughters- Becky Lynn(Joey) Gardner of Steens, MS and Wendy Ann (Roy) Hollis of Caledonia, MS; son- Sampson Wade (Jessica) Pounders of Caledonia, MS; grandchildren- Triston Gardner, Gracie Hollis, Ashlynne Hollis, Emma Kate Gardner, Carlee Grace Brewer, Max Hollis, Kennidee Pounders, Sawyer Pounders, and Sara Clarke Pounders; siblings- Bobby Pounders of Caledonia, MS, Helen (Jerry) Brackin of Caledonia, MS, Kenneth (Diane) Pounders, Elaine (Dewitt) Ray of Steens, MS, Anna Mae Tofsrud of Caledonia, MS, Cecil (Donna) Pounders of Caledonia, MS, Jerry (Judy) Pounders of Caledonia, MS, Warren Pounders of Columbus, MS, and Harold (Debbie) Pounders of Columbus, MS.
Pallbearers will be Carlton Hollis, Sr., Martin Chasteen, Randle Flippo, Ben Kilgore, Tommy Clegg, and Josh Pounders. Honorary pallbearers will be Doc Perkins, Walt Willis, Dewitt Ray, Jerry Brackin, Melanie Moore, and Caledonia Community and Citizens.
