Not sure what to say?

I appreciated my two years of Latin with Dr. Larrick. Rollin was in my class too. I made sure my three boys got a few years of basic Latin because of him (homeschooled) and am proud to be one of Doc´s Latin scholars, as poor a student at it as I was. Gratias tibi ago, magister.

Our family is saddened to hear of Dr. Larrick's passing. I knew him as a colleague, friend, and parent. Dave is best described as the quintessential, gifted teacher, leading his students to the joy of learning classical languages while rigorously exercising their intellect. Our son, Dr. Matthew Aldred, has benefited greatly from his study with Dr. Larrick as he later pursued a career in medicine and dentistry. As parents we are. thankful for Dr. Larrick's influence and instructional care...

Dear Judy, Dear Judy, I was truly saddened to hear of David's passing! Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss.

Doc Larrick was an amazing educator! When my daughter entered AHS as a freshman she was enrolled in French. However the first week of school she felt unprepared for the class in spite of straight A's in middle school. She went across the hall to Doc's classroom and he gave her a textbook to review over the holiday weekend. When school resumed she transferred to his class. It was a remarkable learning experience for her which gave her a much better understanding of the English language and...

Doc Larrick was an amazing influence in the classroom. My daughter entered AHS as a freshman who was enrolled in French because she had it in middle school. However, during the first week of school she felt totally unprepared in spite of straight A's in her middle school French class. She went across the hall and talked with Doc who gave her a Latin book to look over during the holiday weekend. Upon returning to school she switched to his class. As a result she loved learning Latin,...

Doc was my Latin teacher back in the late 90s at AHS - and he instilled in me an undying love for the language (I spent Friday nights during my freshman year of college translating Latin poetry - that's how much I loved it). I have thought of him so often over the decades, and am so thankful he was my teacher.

I worked with David Larrick at Albemarle High School before we both retired. David or "Doc" Larrick as both faculty and students called him was a good friend for many years. We shared many common interests such as Bridge, genealogy, and the AHS musical productions. We were cast members in the production of "Annie´. When I was involved in the Student Recognition Program, "Doc" did the calligraphy for the many certificates that were given to students. My wife made a platter of cookies for the...

Judy and Rollin, I was very saddened to learn of David´s passing. He wasn´t just a colleague but a friend as well. I loved that his classroom was right across the hall from mine so we could chat and gossip every day during class changes. I admired so many things about David. He was brilliant, innovative, funny and very kind. He was an excellent teacher not in just how he presented his subject matter but how he really cared about every child that passed through his door. He left such a...

I am so sorry to hear of Doc´s passing. He was my Latin teacher at Albemarle High School, 2004-2005. I can still see him teaching us with such infectious passion & enthusiasm. He was so respected by students and staff, a legend at AHS. I remember him telling us that even though he had his PhD he just loved teaching high school Latin. He even introduced his to his own teacher, in his 90s, who he´d translate texts with. He took a photo with every class he ever taught and truly cared about his...
