As a young art student, Mark was an incredible mentor to me. I was struggling in life and trying to make my way, estranged from my family. Mark was a visiting artist at Miami Dade College and took and interest in my work and my well-being. I think of him fondly and often. Sadly, I lost touch with him over the years and came across this page while trying to track him down to reconnect. My prayers are with the family.

My most sincere condolences. Mark was a good friend in high school and I had the pleasure of becoming reacquainted later in life. I will always remember Mark's wit and humor as well as his artistic talent.

It has been 45 years that Mark and I were in Mr. Gus DeJonge's 7th grade Social Studies class at South Shores Junior High. Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In was cutting edge TV in 1969. Mark created a Valentine for me, which was a Laugh-In style parody of Mr. DeJonge's class. He drew the bodies of generic classmates and included a small packet containing friend's heads cut from school photos. Dear Dr. & Mrs. Packer & Kate, As a child, I too was a turtle devote. My collection only consisted of Mona Lake varieties. I remember spending hours with Mark. He had such a great collection. He helped me identify and care for my annual collections. I am sure he will be dearly missed....
