Not sure what to say?

Two years since we lost the lion-hearted one. Ok, here's a story : We were BFF in high school. We were the graduation speakers, he valedictorian, me salutatorian. His speech cited Karl Marx as a "great thinker", mine quoted a popular beer commercial "Once around life, once around living". The principal (Father McNamara) was irate. Our classmates loved it. Sometimes over the years, around graduation time, we'd...

References in the earlier posts to the blue LUV truck trigger memories. Every summer in high school, Russ & I would toss our camping gear (& cooler, of course) in back, jump in the truck , & launch w/ no itinerary. Normally ended up in Montana, Canada, Washington. Going where the road took us, searching out the hiking trails & pizza joints, camping alongside the blue highways. We were BFF & competitors in high school. He finished #1 in class, I was #2. We parted...

I knew Russ well at Stanford. During one break we took off in his Chevy Luv and drove to Yosemite, tossing our "coke" cans into the pick-up bed as we went. We wanted to see as much as we could so we hiked until we dropped and could not move until noon the next day. Russ stood up in my Wedding to in Pittsburgh in 1983. Wish we had stayed in touch.

Meyer Family, Condas Family (John, Shauna, Russ, Ian), I am saddened to hear of Russ' passing. I did not know Russ, but attended Judge Memorial with his sister Cathy Condas (a very good friend). Russ was a legend at Judge, as I recall Student Body President and Valedictorian. He was at Stanford in Business School when I was there as an undergraduate. The obituary tells of a life very well lived. Please accept my sincere condolences. Ted Forsman

I was saddened to hear of Rob´s passing. Rob grew up across the street (Orchard Dr.) from me, until they moved one block North to Countryside Dr. Rest In Peace.

Russ was brilliant and a great friend. I miss his insights and guidance.

Dear Marcy; our son Chris sent us Russ´ obituary. I am so sorry about his death. I understand Lee has already emailed you. Russ was so young. I have thought of you often and wished we could have more fun times. Love, Cathy Battles

We were the Meyer´s neighbors, 2 houses down on Orchard Drive. The Meyer kids were mostly younger than our family´s so were not exactly buddies. We had physician fathers in common. We remember Freddie in Superman suit flying through the neighborhood and teased him that his musculature did not match the Superman in the comics. He countered, he intended to play football for Wisconsin. We laughed at the ridiculousness. Years later, Fred played football for Wisconsin. It looks as if the...
