1974 - 2008
Rachel Beane-Quinn Angelo, age 34, of Bakersfield, CA, passed away on September 29, 2008, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Rachel's strength and determination amazed everyone who knew her. She was born in Bloomington, MN, on June 28, 1974. She grew up in Farmington, MN, with her parents, Steve and Roxy Quinn and brother, Ryan, sister, Erin; her father, Jim Beane and sister, Alana along with her brother, Patrick were also a major part of her life. She attended high school in Farmington, Minnesota and enlisted in the Air Force in 1994. She married Ryan Angelo in August 1996 and had two beautiful children, daughter, Reagan and son, Roman. Shortly after moving to Bakersfield in 2000, Rachel began her career for the City of Bakersfield Police Department as a Dispatcher where she touched many lives and made so many wonderful friends. She was diagnosed with leukemia in 2003 and received a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, the leukemia returned and in July 2007 she received a stem cell transplant. She fought so ferociously to gain her strength back! Rachel was so thankful for the care that she received from the Kaiser Doctors locally and in Duarte at the City of Hope along with the wonderful employees of Hoffmann Hospice. She was so grateful to everyone who cared for her during her illness, she always attempted to thank each and every one of the Dr.'s and nurses who cared for her. Rachel truly appreciated all of her friends that visited and brought her gifts and words of encouragement. She appreciated each act of kindness that was given to her. Rachel and her family wanted to give a special "Thank You" to all the Bakersfield City Police Officers and Firefighters who donated so much of their vacation days to her over the years which made her home life so much better. She had a special way of trying to ensure friends and family felt more comfortable with the sadness of her illness. She has touched so many lives as she was a very kind and caring person; she saw the good in everyone. Rachel's spirit and will to live for her children were relentless! She is preceded in death by her mother, Roxy Quinn and father, Jim Beane. She is survived by husband, Ryan Angelo; daughter, Reagan; and son, Roman; dad, Steve Quinn; brother, Ryan; and sister, Erin; sister, Alana; and brother, Patrick; and grandmother, Mary Williams; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at the Firefighter Assembly Hall on Wednesday, October 1, at 6:30 p.m., located on the corner of Wible and Berkshire. I would just like to offer my condolences to the family and let you know you're all in my prayers. My mother used to babysit you guys (Roman & Reagan) when you were little, and I babysat you a few times as well. I've thought about you all many times but never knew the struggles you were all going through. I truly wish you the best for now and in the future.

I will always miss Rachel. I used to watch the kids about five years ago. Rachel was a great mother and such a kind friend. I miss her smile and personality the most! Ryan, I know you will do great with the kids. Charish every moment with them. Roman and Regean, I love and miss you two so much. My sympathy goes out to all of Rachel's family and friends.

Rachel,
I can't believe that it has already been three weeks since you have been gone. It still does not seem real. You sometimes don't realize how much you care about someone until they are gone. You were a great friend and most of all a great mother. You have the best kids. I promised you that I would be there for Reagan and Roman, and that is a promise that I will keep. You were worried that Reagan would not have her hair fixed or they would go to school without picture money...

Hey Girlie,
Words alone can't express the great friendship you and I had. We have had so many memories together. I remember when we first met, you sent me a message to my computer at work telling me you wanted to meet me because I seemed like a nice person (LOL). You saw I was coming in and said, "Hey meet me in the women's restroom" of all places huh..I did and we became such close friends.. We laughed alot together, went out, danced, cried and just shared so many things that you and I...

Rachel, Sweetheart, Baby,
It's been two weeks since your suffering stopped. I thought I was strong enough to be ok with everything but I'm not! Our kids are so amazing and I would do anything to trade places with you....you know that. This is so much more difficult that I thought. Everytime I look at the kids, it breaks my heart that you're not here with us.... They are so amazing Rachel.....it's all due to you! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for raising them so well and...

I just learned that an angel has gone onto heaven. I feel honored to have known Rachel for just a short time but her strength will be something that I will remember always. My sympathies go to her family and friends.
