My deepest sympathy goes out to Gregg, Chloe, and the Jerman family. I was lucky enough to have met Rachael, and be her neighbor since she moved to Rice Lane. We had the pleasure of meeting Rachel quite recently, in February of this year, when we helped my dad settle into an apartment at Fillmore Pond. She was so helpful, supportive, warm, and caring. She lit up when she talked about her daughter, and my impression was that this was a woman in the prime of her life who was totally fulfilled. It was a joy to see. Dear Greg, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember how lovingly you spoke of Rachel and your little girl whenever you visited Shaw Insurance. My heart goes out to you, your daughter and the entire Jerman family. We will keep you in our prayers.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rachel through Greg, with whom I work. I felt instantly at ease with her as she opened up her home to me and shared stories of Chloe as we sat around the dinner table. I was struck by her utter devotion and intense love for her daughter. My whole heart and soul goes out to Greg and Rachel's family tonight. Her love and spirit lives on through Chloe. I wish I had the chance to know her better. I pray for Greg and Chloe that they can soon find peace in their lives.

We had the pleasure of having Rachel as our guest in our apartments several years back. She was a delightful person who enjoyed immersing herself in the Mexican culture. It was a pleasure to know her, even for such a short time.

I had the honor and pleasure of working with Rachel at Random House throughout her career there. She brought joy and kindness to all who knew her and just being with her made me happy. It makes me very sad to think of a world without her in it. Chloe - Many, many people loved your Mother and will miss her, too. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

To Rachel's family:
I met your special Rachel on Nantucket and found her zest for life contagious -- maiking me and those around her better people by her presence. I biked the island with her, and could barely keep up: but her encouragement got me through, and that was a quality I most admired about her: that one could do anything. She was a breath of fresh air on the island, and I'll always treasure her warmth and kindness to me (even though I was a Republican!)
