Rachel Leduc Obituary

RACHEL PLOSSER LEDUC

Rachel Plosser LeDuc passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2007.

Rachel was born in Oakland, February 13, 1965, spent most of her childhood in Sacramento, graduated from Sacramento High School, and then moved to Chico where she attended both Butte College and Chico State. She earned her teaching credential and taught English at Chico Junior High School for 14 years.

Rachel is survived by her husband, Mycol, a son, Jaxon, mother Margaret (Peggy) McCormack, all of Chico, and a brother, Ted Plosser, who is serving in the U.S. State Department in Helsinki Finland. Rachel also has a large, adopted family in the Chico area.

Rachel left us far too soon and will be greatly missed, but all will remember her kind spirit and loving, generous heart.

The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, to please contribute to the Jaxon LeDuc Education Trust Fund established at Golden 1 Credit Union, 239 West 2nd Street, Chico, CA 95928.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 20th at 4:00 p.m. at the Chico Junior high School Gymnasium, 280 Memorial Way.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Neptune Society of No. CA, Chico Branch.

Ooof just learned of Ms. LeDuc’s passing because I wanted to look her up and tell her she was a good teacher. Should have done it long ago, but I have always remembered when she changed her last name to LeDuc, she put Ms. LeDuc on the board and made a comment about how it was because she didn’t think people needed to know the marriage status of women and not men. I loved that and never forgot it. What a cool person. I’m very saddened to hear of her loss.

I met Rachel when I was about 10 years old. Thought we had not been in touch since she left Sacramento 20 years ago, I've always though of her as a close friend. I am terribly sorry for the loss to Mycol, Jaxon and Rachel's family. She will be missed but never forgotten.

Rachel and I went to college together and we worked together at Chico Junior. We were friends. We taught drama together and supported each other while we learned to be teachers. She was on a team with Roxanne Lake and Maureen Fredrickson and I. She was a sweet, caring, independent woman and she was loved by so many people.

We loved Rachel very much. She was like my sister, always encouraging me and finding the positive side of everything. My kids loved being around her and visiting her class. Always in my heart.

Mrs. Leduc was my English teacher in junior high and to this day I consider her one of the best. She inspired me to pursue my dreams and had an unwavering faith in me and for that I am eternally grateful. I will always remember the day she diagnosed me with chickenpox! Mrs. Leduc, you will always have a place in my heart.

Mycol and Jaxon, You guys don't know me, but I worked with Rachel at Chico Jr for 14 years. I've been retired for the last 2 years and was greatly saddened to hear of Rachel's passing. I really liked Rachel and loved her spirit and attitude. She would try anything and do a great job at it. I taught the SDC class and when Rachel first arrived at CJ, they stuck her with that class. It's a difficult class to teach, but Rachel did a wonderful job with much enthusiasm. I'll always remember her friendliness and wonderful smile. She was great! God Bless.
