Not sure what to say?

We remember your family with the passing of Rachel. The memorial service was a wonderful tribute and a chance for the family to share her gifts to all. With thanksgiving for her life and her ongoing spirit. Karen Keto Nichols

A beautiful service so truly fitting for such a special woman. I was lucky enough to get to know Rachel thanks to my dear friend Amy. Rachel was truly a powerhouse on her own but her greatest legacy is her family who are all so special. Rest in peace Rachel and know that your family will carry your spirit.

Rachel was truly a jewel who made such a lasting impact on me. I´m grateful for the time I had to know her and will always remember her welcoming smile, warm heart, and genuine concern for others. My heartfelt condolences go out to you all - Amy, Kathy, Gideon, Lucie, Maia, and Theo. I pray that God´s strength, comfort, and peace surround you all during this time. Rachel will be dearly missed!

Our deepest condolences. The service was a beautiful tribute to Rachel's life and it was a great comfort to be together (even online) to remember her. Rachel's grandchildren spoke so beautifully and shared such touching memories. Lucie is a talented musician and an absolute treasure. The words of those who spoke were a testament to her legacy and it was a privilege to hear them. It was also wonderful to learn more about Rachel's life and the things that were most meaningful to her. She was...

Amy, I'm so glad I could attend the service and learn about the woman who raised you and your sister with so much love, spirit, strength, creativity, and fun. Through both of you, and your children, her gifts live on!

I treasure my memories of Rachel. My husband (Milt) and I were close friends of Rachel and Bruce when we were graduate students in the Biochemistry Department where Bruce was a faculty member and Rachel worked in the same laboratory as the one where Milt was a student. We remained loving friends of both Rachel and Bruce after we left Ann Arbor and our friendship continued and deepened after Bruce´s death. Sondra Schlesinger

I have missed Rachel since she moved to Chicago. I met her officially several years ago when I worked for the Census Bureau. I left my card at her door, and she said the only reason she replied was because I had a Finnish family name! We developed a wonderful friendship! Fly with the angels, dear friend!

Rachel and Bruce met my parents during their MIT days, when Bruce was a student of my father. They remained good friends ever since. Her long life has been well-lived, and I hope your many wonderful memories of her sustain and comfort you, now and later. Sincerely, Claire, Stephen, Lisa and Peter Buchanan

The life given us by nature is short; but the memory of a well-spent life is eternal. May your memories of Rachel sustain you in this time of loss. Rachel loved her family very much and was extremely proud of you. She could be opinionated and stubborn, but she was also generous and helpful. One Thanksgiving she loaned me her car so I could drive to Iowa to be with family, and I was able to pick her up in Chicago on my way home. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
