Rafael Gonzalez

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Rafael Gonzalez, 77, of Anthony, passed from this life on Monday, March 21, 2016, at his home. He was born Aug. 29, 1938, in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Ramon and Ramona Lopez Gonzalez. Rafael retired as a metal worker from Border Steel after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of 52 years, Romelia Segovia Gonzalez of the family home; a son, Rafael Gonzalez Jr.; two daughters, Guadalupe and Estella Gonzalez; a brother, Norberto Gonzalez of Mexico; two sisters, Socorro Gonzalez of Texas and Minerva Gonzalez of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Other survivors include four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation for Rafael will begin at 6 p.m. today, March 23, 2016, in St. Anthony Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Ave., where the prayer vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Family and friends will join together the celebrate the funeral Mass at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016, in the same church. The rite of committal and interment will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest.
Serving as casket bearers will be Rafael Jr., and Rafael Gonzalez III, Raul Martinez, Javier Ontiveros, Jesus Franco and Ricardo Lopez.
