"Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary..." If you knew Ray Westphal, then you knew that at any moment he could, and often would, recite in its entirety, Edgar Allen Poe's famous, and painfully long, "The Raven." The poem, like Ray's life, is known for meticulous logic,...

My deepest sympathies to the Westphal family. I started working at Vertex in 1992. I remember Ray as being caring, thoughtful, and funny. I remember the April Fools jokes that he played on his employees. They were funny. Ray really cared about his family and his Vertex family with all his heart. He will be surely missed not only by his family but by all who knew him at Vertex.

It was a joy to to have cared for Ray when he was in Naples. I truly enjoyed his stories his company and feel blessed to have known him. I´ll never smell a cigar or see an Ashton again without smiling and thinking of Ray.

While chatting we discovered we were both German and we spoke a little bit. His German was better than mine. :) The last time I saw Ray he was being given a tour of our new building in the late summer of 2017. I happened to run into the group and someone told me he may not recognize me. But I approached and when he saw me he started talking German to...

We are sorry to learn of Ray´s passing. Our relationship with Ray goes way back to our days at Drexel. As a fraternity brother to Ray and a cousin to Antoinette, we have quite a few fond memories. Ray left a lasting impact on those who were fortunate to know him. We remember his zest for life, kindness, and love of his family. Our hearts go out to Cindy, Amanda, Jeff, and Stefanie.
