Ralph Banchero Obituary

Ralph Richard Banchero

March 26, 1928 - December 6, 2017

Ralph, 89, passed on peacefully at home after a gradual decline in health. He was cared for by his loving family. Born to Giovanni and Adelina Banchero in Black Diamond, he was the youngest of nine children. He grew up on the family farm, which has always been a center of his life. Eventually he moved to Seattle to work at his brother, Ed's, meat market (E&E MEATS) until he retired. Having a gregarious personality, he enjoyed being a salesman and had more friends than we could count.

He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and best friend. Loving music and dance, his home was filled with Polka music. One could always count on the 10 minute ride, a daily wake up call at 6 am to ask what you are doing, and his affectionate pulling of ears. When teasing someone, he had a twinkle in his bright blue eyes and his trademark smirk! Generous in spirit and possessions, he was well loved and respected. Also, true to his Italian heritage he made regular trips to Italy visiting family and friends. There was much love shared.

Ralph is survived by five children (and spouses): Lynn, Lori Banchero, Les Banchero, Larry Banchero, and Chris Banchero; 14 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. His significant other was Eloise Drake and her children Kim Boeringa, Jody Boeringa, Lana Walden and families.

Though time passes we still long to be with our loved ones. May you find comfort in knowing your Heavenly Father cares for your family during this difficult time. I loved Uncle Ralph! He was so funny. He always made me laugh. Was grateful to have him in my life. He had the most beautiful blue eyes, and we should all greet each other by grabbing one another's earlobes just to maintain tradition. :D Love, Wendy

Larry, Leah, Tony, Rena, Maria and the rest of the Banchero clan ~ my heart is with you. Ralph was a rare man, full of life and mischief. He made me laugh each time I saw him and I know he will be incredibly missed. He left a legacy of fantastic people and lived life to it's limits. I hope your memories bring you laughter and peace. God bless you on your journey, Ralph. You are a man well loved.

Ralph didn't talk much unless it was necessary, usually in questions or short comments but he managed to convey so much about himself in very few words. A listener and learner of people, he would get you to talk about yourself by asking a few calculated questions. Thats how he was able to get you into a debate type conversation before you even knew it and then you would see that smile that uncovered his intent. He is revealed in the character and faces of his children and grandchildren and the stories will forever captivate us. I called him dad for 40 years and it was my privilege to have known and loved him. Lynn, Lori, Les, Larry and Chris, my heart is with you and may your loving father rest in peace.

Lost a lifelong friend in Ralph. It's his fault that my earlobes are so big, as he was always pulling on them! Rest in peace, my friend.

I started to be around Ralph after my dad Albert died. They were best buddies, and I think Ralph's love for my dad was transferred to me, to a certain extent. Lori was right about the sparkle in his eyes, the smirk. You could see the little kid still flowing through his veins, just aching to get away with a little joke. He had a kind of happy go lucky way about him. But I think that belied a sensitive / protective nature and a great care for family and friends. Rest in God, Mio cugino il mio amico
