MONTGOMERY COUNTY -- Ralph E. Brunk Sr., oldest son of Howard J. and Clara May (Layman) Brunk, was born on July 12, 1934 in Montgomery County, Ohio. He departed this life at home, surrounded by family, on September 6, 2022 at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 25 days.
On August 23, 1953, he was united in marriage to Mary Eileen King. This union was blessed with five children; four sons and one daughter.
In May 1963, Dad & Mom accepted Christ as their Saviour and were baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, where they remained faithful. In March of 1975 they were elected to the Deacon's Office at Shady Grove. Dad joyfully labored in that capacity, for the kingdom, until recently. One highlight in his life was being able to host the 2006 Annual Conference of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church at the family farm on Springhill Rd.
Mom passed from this life in April 2012, leaving Dad very lonely. In the spring of 2014, he began traveling to North Manchester, Indiana to visit Phyllis (Roth) Coning. They were married in June 2014, which added a new dimension to both their lives. They moved to Union City, Indiana the following year, where they lived contentedly until Dad's passing. Although Dad had numerous health issues the last four years, he liked to be occupied and kept pressing on. We trust our loss is his eternal gain.
Left to mourn his passing are his companion of 8 years, Phyllis; his children: Gene & Lois, Dean & Brenell, Barb Sink, Steve & Penny, Chuck & Yvonne; 17 grandchildren: Shawn & Tara, Kip & Amy, Josie & Micah Turner, Nicole & Laban Garber, Deanyl & Jesse Denlinger, Daynon & Jessica, Dylena & Corbin Holsinger, Aislinn & Greg Miller, Alexa & Todd Longenecker, Abe & Vicki Sink, Aaron & Sheila Sink, Mindy & Tim Tobe, Travis & Rachel, Nathan & Gemma, Chet & Amanda, Alex & Sarah, Logan & Cassidy; 62 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandsons; and a brother, Dennis Brunk. He will also be remembered by his step-family: Bill & Marsha Miller, Randy & Darlene Coning, Ronald Coning, Jim & Jalene Hufford and their families.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Mary; 2 brothers, Marvin Brunk & Donald Brunk; and son-in-law, Wilbur Sink.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday September 12, 2022 in the Shady Grove Old German Baptist Brethren Church 1887 Beamsville-Union City Road, Union City, Ohio with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens Greenville, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Sunday September 11, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio.
